Quarrier Girls Golf at Madison

The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls golf team played in the Madison Invitational at the Madison Country Club on Thursday, May 12th. Dell Rapids finished with a team score of 458. Canton won the event with a team score of 380. Madison was second with 391, and West Central finished third with 392.

Individually for Dell Rapids, Katlyn Greenhoff finished with a 104. Rose Habeger had a round of 112. Olivia Downs finished with a 117. Mallory Haak had a 125. Stephanie Dennis had a 129, and Grace Tisher finished with a 132.

Dell Rapids will travel to the Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion on Monday, May 16th.

Dell Rapids Jr Track Results from Dak-12 Meet

The Dell Rapids Quarrier 7th and 8th grade girls and boys track teams participated in the Middle School Dak-12 Conference meet on Tuesday, May 10th, at Tea. The 8th grade girls finished first with 99 points. The 7th grade girls, 8th grade girls, and 8th grade boys all finished fourth at the meet.

Cardinal Boys Golf Finishes 5th at DVC

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal boys golf team finished fifth at the Dakota Valley Conference tournament on Tuesday, May 10th, at Lake Region Golf Course in Arlington. The Cardinals finished with a team score of 300. Arlington/Lake Preston finished first with 261. Colman-Egan was second with 265, and Deubrook Area was third with 276.

Jacob Frost and Carson Park both finished with a round of 99. Lane Reecy fired a round of 102, and Brandon Kubly had a round of 104.

The Cardinals will be at the Colman-Egan Invite on Wednesday, May 10th.

Dell Rapids Baseball Winning Streak Reaches Seven

The Dell Rapids baseball team won their seventh game in a row and improved to 12-2 on the year after a 6-1 win over Garretson on Sunday, May 8th, at Rickeman Field in Dell Rapids.

Dell Rapids took the lead in the first inning after a lead-off triple by Josh Roemen and an RBI sacrifice fly by Carter Gullickson. Dell Rapids scored two more times in the fourth inning. Matt Gillogly hit a triple and scored on a throwing error, and Bo Teveldal scored on a wild pitch to give Dell Rapids a 3-0 lead after the fourth. Garretson scored their lone run on an RBI ground out by Chayce Schleuter. Dell Rapids scored two more times in the fifth inning and added another run in the sixth.

Brett Mogen pitched six innings for the win. He gave up one run on five hits while walking one and striking out nine batters. Eddie Price pitched the final inning striking out one batter.

Roemen finished the game 2-3 with two triples and two runs scored. Gullickson was 1-3 at the plate with three RBI. Gillogly was 1-3 with a triple, Mogen was 1-3 at the plate with a double, Teveldal finished 2-3 with a double, and Eric Klein was 1-2 with a double.

Dell Rapids will wrap up the regular season in Salem on Thursday, May 12th, against McCook Central.

Cardinal and Quarrier Track Results from Sioux Falls

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal and Dell Rapids Quarrier track teams were in Sioux Falls over the weekend for two different track meets. Members from the teams participated in the O’Gorman Invite and Dakota Relays at Howard Wood on Friday and Saturday, May 6th and 7th.

The Quarriers will host the Dells Invite on Monday, May 9th, and travel to Canton for the Dak 12 Conference meet on Thursday, May 12th.

The Cardinals will also be at the Dells Invite on Monday, May 9th, and travel to De Smet for the Dakota Valley Conference meet on Thursday, May 12th.

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal boys and girls track teams participated in the Baltic Invite on Tuesday, May 3rd. The girls team finished fifth with 52 points. Deubrook Area won the girls title with 127 points. Chester Area was second with 109 points, and Howard finished third with 81 points. The Cardinal boys finished seventh with 41 points. Baltic won the boys title with 137 points. Colman-Egan was second with 92 points, and Chester Area was third with 90 points.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls and boys track teams traveled to Lennox for the LenWood Meet on Tuesday, May 3rd. The girls team finished second with 98 team points. Sioux Falls Christian was the girls team title with 201 points. Lennox finished third with 86 points. The Quarrier boys finished third with 116 points. Sioux Falls Christian was first with 162 points, and Lennox was second with 127 points.

The Quarriers will be in Sioux Falls on Friday and Saturday, May 6th and 7th, for the Howard Wood Relays and O’Gorman Invite

Dell Rapids Baseball Now 10-2

The Dell Rapids baseball team picked up two more wins over the weekend to improve to 10-2 on the year. Dell Rapids defeated Madison 11-4 on Friday, April 29th, in Madison. Dell Rapids then traveled to Volga on Sunday, May 1st, and beat Redfield 2-0.

Dell Rapids led start to finish against Madison, scoring four runs in the first three innings and then scoring five more in the fifth inning. Eddie Price started the game on the mound throwing 2 2/3 innings giving up two runs, one earned, on one hit while walking three batters and striking out four. Trevor Pluscher earned the win with 3 1/3 innings of relief. He gave up one earned run on two hits while walking three and striking out two. Josh Roemen had a triple, double, one RBI and scored a run. Carter Gullickson had a double, two singles, an RBI, and scored three runs. Matt Gillogly had and two hits, and Nate McKee, Bo Teveldal, Mason Peter and Eric Klein all collected hits for Dell Rapids.

Brett Mogen pitched Dell Rapids to the win on Sunday against Redfield. He threw a complete game pitching all seven innings giving up just two hits while walking four and striking out 10 batters. Roemen had a single and double for Dell Rapids. Teveldal had two singles and an RBI. Klein also picked up a single and scored a run.

Dell Rapids will travel to Flandreau to play Chester/Colman-Egan/Flandreau on Friday, May 6th.
