Baltic 16U Finishes Second at 16U League Tournament

The Baltic 16U baseball team finished second at the I-29 League Tournament after finishing 2-1 in Humboldt Friday, June 16th through Sunday, June 18th.  They entered the tournament undefeated and won their first two games, but lost their final game on Sunday.

Baltic 4, Tea Gold 1

Braxton Allen hit an RBI single in the top of the first inning for an early 1-0 lead.  Ryder Siemonsma had an RBI single, Beau Breece an RBI triple, and Brayan Valadez an RBI ground out in the top of the second to push the lead to 4-0.  Those early runs were enough as Baltic held Tea to just a single run in the bottom of the sixth.

Breece had a triple and an RBI.  Allen and Siemonsma both finished with a single and an RBI.  Riley Schultz, Riiker Rogers, and Joey Grunewaldt all had one single each.  Schultz pitched all six innings and allowed one earned run on one hit and two walks with nine strikeouts.

Baltic 21, Tri-Valley White 0

Baltic scored early and often in a big win over Tri-Valley White on Saturday.  They put nine runs on the board right away in the top of the first.  They added two more in the second, five in the third, and five more in the fourth.  Tri-Valley was held to just two hits in the game.

Goehring had a big day with four hits, including a home run and two doubles, and eight RBIs.  Allen had three hits, with one triple and one double, and three RBIs.  Siemonsma had three hits and two RBIs.  Grunewaldt also had three hits with an RBI.  Breece finished with two hits.  Elias Oakley had a single and two RBIs.  Cohen Mcguire added a hit.  Grunewaldt pitched three innings allowing one hit and one walk with four strikeouts.  Allen threw one inning and allowed one hit and one strikeout.

Dell Rapids 10, Baltic 0

A seven-run inning in the bottom of the first by Dell Rapids put them on a path to a 10-0 win over Baltic on Sunday.  Dell Rapids added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth before the game ended on the 10-run rule in the fifth inning.

Baltic had just three hits in the game.  Allen finished with a double.  Breece and Siemonsma each had a single.  Allen pitched 3 1/3 innings allowing 10 runs, nine earned, on 13 hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  Grunewaldt pitched 2/3 of an inning and had one walk and one strikeout.
