The Baltic Bulldogs took a hard-fought battle over the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks in straight sets at home on Tuesday, September 22nd. The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-23.
Baltic went on a 5-2 run to start the first set. They were able to extend that lead to five points, 12-7. Elkton-Lake Benton pulled within a point, 18-17, and then tied the score 19-19. The Bulldogs responded with a 3-1 run to go back in front 22-20, and they stayed in the lead to the 25-22 win.
Elkton-Lake Benton turned a 3-2 deficit into a 5-4 lead. The set was tied at scored of 6-6, 9-9, and again at 12-12. Baltic went on a 4-0 run to take a 16-12 advantage. The Bulldogs were leading 19-16 before finishing the set on a 6-0 run for the 25-16 win.
They carried that momentum into the start of the third and built a 6-1 lead. Elkton-Lake Benton went on a 10-2 run to go ahead 11-8. They extended their lead to 16-10. The Elks continued to lead at 18-14 and 22-18, but the Bulldogs rallied to a 23-23 tie and then scored the final two points to earn the 25-23 come-from-behind win.
