The Baltic Bulldogs traveled to Hartford for a matchup against the West Central Trojans on Tuesday, September 15th. The Bulldogs suffered a straight-set loss, but in a hard-fought battle, by scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 25-21.
Baltic opened the match with a 5-0 run. They continued to lead at 7-2, 9-5, and 11-7. At that point the Trojans scored four points in a row to tie the score 11-11. West Central then went on a 3-1 run for a 14-12 advantage. They great the lead to 17-14 and then to 22-16. The Trojans would win the first set 25-18.
West Central struck first in the second set with an early 4-1 run. Baltic closed the gap to 5-4 and then tied the score at 7-7. The Trojans went back in front 12-9, but once again the Bulldogs rallied to tie the score 14-14. The Trojans would go on a big run of 11-2 the rest of the way for the 25-16 win.
The Bulldogs started the third set with a 3-1 lead. They continued to lead by two at 6-4, but the Trojans grabbed the lead at 8-7. West Central was able to keep at one-point lead at scores of 13-12 and 16-15. The Trojans led 19-17, but Baltic would go on a 4-2 run to tie score at 21-21. West Central stopped the momentum there. The Trojans ended the set, and match, with four straight points for a 25-21 win.
