Garretson Pulls Away from Baltic in Football Opener

The Baltic Bulldog football team opened the 2026 season on the road in Garretson on Friday, August 21st.  The Blue Dragons pulled away in the second half after about a 90-minute weather delay during halftime for a 35-6 win.

Garretson scored a defensive touchdown by recovering a fumble in the end zone with 2:20 to play in the second quarter.  The extra point was good for a 7-0 score.  The score remained 7-0 at halftime.  The Blue Dragons would then score on their first three possessions of the second half.

The first score came on a 20-yard run with 9:23 in the third quarter.  The extra point was no good.  Their second score was on a 28-yard pass with 3:53 left in the third.  The Blue Dragons converted a two-point conversion to make the score 21-0.  They scored again with 9:06 to play in the game on a four-yard run.  The extra point extended the lead to 28-0.

Baltic scored their touchdown with 8:39 left.  Laken Kortemeyer connected with Brechen Frederick for a 70-yard touchdown pass.  The extra point was no good.  Garretson scored another defensive touchdown on a 15-yard interception return for a score with 5:43 to play in the game.
