Late Runs for Lennox Ends Baltic Baseball Season

The Baltic high school baseball season came to an end in the super regionals held in Dell Rapids on Tuesday, May 19th.  Lennox rallied late in the game to earn a 13-3 win in six innings.

Baltic held momentum through the first half of the game.  Laken Kortemeyer shut down Lennox for four innings allowing only two hits and two walks in the first four frames.  The offense took the lead in the top of the third on an RBI fielder’s choice by Jackson Goehring and a two-run single by Isaac Oakley for a 3-0 lead.

Things turned for Baltic and Lennox in the fifth.  The first eight batters for Lennox reached base and five of them scored before an out was recorded as Lennox went in front 5-3.  They added two more runs in the inning for a 7-3 advantage.  The momentum continued into the sixth inning when the first six batters reached before the first out.  Lennox scored six more times to end the game on the 10-run rule.

I. Oakley had a hit and two RBIs.  Goehring finished with a hit and an RBI.  Elias Oakley added a single.  Kortemeyer pitched four innings and allowed five earned runs on five hits and four walks with one strikeout.  E. Oakley pitched one inning and allowed seven runs, six earned, on two hits and six walks with two strikeouts.  Brody Hansen tossed 1/3 of an inning and allowed an unearned run on two walks.

Baltic finished the season with a 6-13 overall record.
