Big Inning Gives Tri-Valley Win over Baltic Baseball

A big fifth inning for Tri-Valley put the game out of reach for Baltic as Tri-Valley took the home win 15-7 on Thursday, May 7th.

Jackson Goehring put Baltic on the board right away in the top of the first with an RBI single.  Elias Oakley scored on a passed ball, and Goehring scored on a steal of home later in the inning for a 3-0 lead.  Tri-Valley, however, would score four times in the bottom of the inning for a 4-3 lead.  Aaron Nordbye would score on a passed ball in the top of the second to tie the game 4-4.  Tri-Valley went back in front with a run in the bottom of the second.  They would extend the lead to 6-4 with another run in the bottom of the third.

Zach Helgeson had an RBI single in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 6-5.  Again Tri-Valley would get a run in the bottom of the inning.  Helgeson had another RBI single in the top of the fifth to pull Baltic within a run again, 7-6.  Tri-Valley would then have a seven-run inning in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 14-6.  Baltic added one more run in the top of the seventh.

E. Oakley had three hits in the game.  Helgeson had two hits and two RBIs.  Goehring also had two hits with an RBI.  Cale Roach, Laken Kortemeyer, Brody Hansen, Alex Hockenberry, and Mikey Grunewaldt all had one hit each.  Kortemeyer pitched four innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on five hits and five walks with two strikeouts.  Nordbye pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed six earned runs on two hits and three walks with a strikeout.  Helgeson tossed 1 1/3 innings and allowed two unearned runs on two hits and two walks.  Wyatt Petersen allowed an earned run on a hit and a walk.
