Baltic High School Baseball Drops Two on Back-to-Back Days

The Baltic high school baseball team had two road games on back-to-back days.  They traveled to Dell Rapids on Thursday, April 16th and then traveled to Vermillion on Friday, April 17th.  Baltic fell short in both games.

Dell Rapids 15, Baltic 0

Dell Rapids had an 11-run third inning to help them to the 15-0 win in three innings.  They scored two times in the bottom of the first.  They added two more with two outs in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 4-0.  Dell Rapids scored four runs in the third before the first out was recorded.  They got two more before the second out.  They then scored five more runs to end the game.

Cale Roach had the only hit in the game for Baltic.  Elias Oakley pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed 13 runs, six earned, on six hits and seven walks with three strikeouts.  Aaron Nordbye allowed two earned runs on a hit and three walks.

Vermillion 12, Baltic 2

Vermillion built an early 6-0 lead by scoring two in the bottom of the first and four more in the bottom of the second.  Jackson Goehring had an RBI single in the top of the third.  Zach Helgeson followed with an RBI single of his own to cut the lead to 6-2.  Vermillion, however, responded with two runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 10-2.  They added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Roach had two singles in the game.  Goehring and Helgeson each had a single and an RBI.  Isaac Oakley and Nordbye both had one single each.  I. Oakley pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on six hits and two walks.  Laken Kortemeyer threw four innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
