The Baltic high school baseball team had games on back-to-back days on Wednesday, May 7th and Thursday, May 8th. They defeated Garretson but fell to Lennox.
Baltic 15, Garretson 13
Baltic used two big innings and held off Garretson for the win on Wednesday. Garretson started with three runs in the top of the first. Baltic got one run in the bottom of the inning but took the lead, 4-3, with three runs in the bottom of the second. Garretson grabbed the lead back, 7-4, after two runs in the top of the third and two more in the top of the fourth. Baltic had a big six-run inning in the bottom of the fourth to gob ack in front 10-7. Garretson tied the game, 10-10, with three runs in the top of the sixth. Baltic took the lead for good with five more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Garretson rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh, but Baltic held for the win.
Braxten Allen had four hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs. Elias Oakley had a single and double with four RBIs. Isaac Oackley had two hits with three RBIs. Gavin Skotvold and AJ Grunewaldt both had two hits and two RBIs. Jackson Goehring had two hits, one a double, with an RBI. Cale Roach added a single, and Ryder Siemonsma had an RBI.
Allen pitched four innings and allowed seven runs, three earned, on six hits and four walks with six strikeouts. Skotvold pitched three innings and allowed six earned runs on five hits and five walks with two strikeouts.
Lennox 4, Baltic 0
Baltic was held to just three hits as Lennox took the 4-0 win on Thursday. Lennox broke a scoreless tie with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. They would extend the lead to 3-0 with two more runs in the fifth. Lennox got one more run in the bottom of the sixth.
Allen, E. Oakley, and Skotvold all had one single each in the game. E. Oakley pitched all six innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits and six walks with three strikeouts.
