Baltic 16U Splits Two Games in Bryant

The Baltic 16U team split two games in Bryant on Sunday, July 7th.   They got a win over Milbank, but suffered a loss to Hamlin.

Baltic 12, Milbank 11

Milbank tried to rally in the bottom of the fifth, but Baltic was able to hold for the win in their first game of the day.  Baltic scored five times in the top of the first only to see their lead cut to 5-4 in the bottom of the inning.  Baltic scored a run in the top of the second.  Milbank, however, took the lead 7-6 with a three-run bottom of the second.  Neither team would score in third inning.  Baltic took the lead back for good with a five-run top of the fourth inning.  Milbank scored one run in the bottom of the inning to make the score 11-8.  Baltic added a big insurance run in the top of the fifth for a 12-8 lead.  That run was needed as Milbank scored three times in the bottom of the fifth, but had their rally fall short.

Braxton Allen had three hits, including two doubles, and an RBI.  Isaac Oakley had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  AJ Grunewaldt had two singles and an RBI.  Cale Roach added a single with two RBIs.  Jackson Goehring had a hit.  Joey Grunewaldt and Aaron Nordbye both had an RBI.

Hamlin 1, Baltic 0

A one-out fielder’s choice in the bottom of the fifth inning gave Hamlin a 1-0 walk-off win over Baltic.  Baltic was held to just three hits in the game.  Goehring finished with a double.  Roach and Nordbye both had a single.

Allen pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
