Fourth Quarter Spark Falls Short for Baltic Boys

The Baltic Bulldog boys found a spark in the fourth quarter, but their rally fell short in a 59-47 loss to the Vermillion Tanagers on Thursday, January 9th.

Vermillion scored the first eight points for an 8-0 lead with 5:15 to play in the opening quarter.  Baltic got the lead down to 15-10 by the end of the quarter.  The Tanagers outscored the Bulldogs 11-5 in the second quarter to extend their lead to 26-15 at halftime.  The lead grew for Vermillion in the third quarter.  They took a 43-27 lead into the fourth quarter.  The Bulldogs went on a 13-3 run to cut the lead to 46-40 with 3:30 to play.  Baltic seemed to be picking up momentum, but Vermillion went on a 5-0 run scoring on back-to-back offensive possessions to push the lead back to double digits, 51-40.  The Tanagers were able to put the game away from the free-throw line.

Ben Erickson finished with 17 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Dylan Runestad had 15 points and five rebounds.  Kellen Artz added eight points and nine rebounds.  Cooper Garry had five points and four rebounds.  Trevor Cuperus ended with four points and four rebounds.
