Late Third Quarter Momentum Key to Baltic Boys Win

A rally and momentum late in the third quarter helped the Baltic Bulldogs to a 71-52 win over the Chester Flyers on Thursday, January 16th.

The Bulldogs built themselves a seven-point lead, 16-9, by the end of the first quarter.  The lead grew to 29-19 with 2:30 to play in the second quarter.  Chester rallied and went on a 9-2 run to cut the lead to three points, 31-28, by halftime.

Baltic started the third quarter on a 10-0 run and extended their lead to 41-28 with 6:00 to play in the quarter.  The Flyers were not ready to give up at that point.  They responded with an 11-3 run to cut the lead to five points, 44-39, with 1:30 to go in the third.  Baltic ended the quarter on a 5-0 spurt to make the score 49-39 going into the fourth quarter.  That little spark to end the third quarter got the Bulldog offense rolling.  They outscored Chester 22-13 in the final quarter for the win.

Ben Erickson had 17 points and three rebounds.  Dylan Runestad also had 17 points with two assists.  Trevor Cuperus finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.  Kellen Artz ended with 11 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.  Cooper Garry had nine points, three rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.
