Baltic Volleyball Wins Tough Match over Elkton-Lake Benton

The Baltic Bulldog volleyball team earned a five-set road win over the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks on Tuesday, September 19th.  The Bulldogs won by set scores of 25-21, 18-25, 25-18, 21-25, and 15-13.

Baltic started the first set on a 5-1 run.  The Elks tied the score 5-5, and then the two teams went back and forth to a 13-13 tie.  The Bulldogs then went on a 3-0 run for a 16-13 lead.  They extended the lead to 21-16 before taking the win 25-21.  The Elks got on a big run early in the second set and took a 10-3 lead.  They pushed that lead to 20-9.  Baltic went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 20-16, but the deficit was too big as the Elks won 25-18.

After a close 5-4 score to start the third set, Baltic went ahead 10-5.  They slowly grew the lead to 18-12 and then 23-15.  The Bulldogs took the third set 25-18.  The two teams started the fourth set with a 4-4 tie.  Elkton-Lake Benton went on an 8-3 run for a 12-7.  Baltic responded with a 5-0 run to tie the score 12-12.  The score was tied again 15-15, but the Elks slowly pulled away from there.  They went in front by a score of 20-17 before winning 25-21.

The Elks got out front first, 5-2, to start the fifth and final set.  Baltic tied the score 7-7, and then the score was tied again 9-9.  The Bulldogs went on a 4-0 run for a 13-9 lead.  The Elks got within a point, 14-13, but the Bulldogs finished the set and match with the 15-13 win.

Daynica Witzel had 25 kills and 16 digs.  Maiya Fredrickson and Meridith Larson both had six kills.  Bailey Teveldal finished with 43 set assists, 24 digs, and four ace serves.  Fredrickson also had three assisted blocks and four ace serves.  Tenley Witzel had 16 digs, and Baylee Breece added 12 digs.
