The Baltic legion baseball team won two of three games played at the Clark Rotary Club Tournament held Thursday, July 6th through Saturday, July 8th.
LaMoure, ND 11, Baltic 2
Baltic fell behind early in their game against LaMoure on Thursday. LaMoure scored four in the bottom of the first, three in the second, and four in the third for an 11-0 lead. Baltic scored both of their runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Tate Fuecht and Hunter Larson both had two hits, each had a double, and each had an RBI. Gunner Schultz and Beau Keith both had a single. Fuecht pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed 11 runs, 10 earned, on seven hits and eight walks with five strikeouts. Braxten Allen pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed one hit with one strikeout.
Baltic 10, Groton 9
Baltic scored three times in the bottom of the eight inning to earn a 10-9 over Groton in extra innings on Friday. Groton built an early lead. They scored three times in the top of the first. Baltic got one run back in the bottom of the inning. Groton then scored one in the third, two in the fourth and one more in the top of the fifth for a 7-1 lead. Baltic rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fifth and then tied the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth. After a scoreless seventh inning, the game went into extra innings. Groton struck first with two runs in the top of the eight, but Baltic scored two of the three runs with two outs to steal the win.
Keith had two home runs in the game with four RBIs. Jose Valadez had two hits, including a home run, and an RBI. Riley Dobbins finished with a single and a double. G. Schultz had a double and two RBIs. Riley Schultz had a hit and an RBI. Fuecht finished with a single. R. Schultz pitched 7 1/3 innings and allowed eight runs, five earned, on six hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts. Keith pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed two hits with one strikeout.
Baltic 4, Rapid City Post 320 3
After building a 4-0 lead, Baltic held tough to get a 4-3 win over Rapid City. Baltic got two runs in the top of the second and two more in the top of the fourth inning. Rapid City had a run in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the sixth.
Valadez finished with two hits and an RBI. Allen had a single and an RBI. R. Schultz, G. Schultz, and Riker Rogers all had one hit each. Dobbins had an RBI. Dobbins pitched five innings and allowed three earned runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Keith pitched one inning and struck out two batters.
