Tri-Valley 16U Can’t Stop Dakota Valley

July 27, 2021 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

The Tri-Valley 16U team ran into a tough Dakota Valley team in the opening round of the Region 1A baseball tournament in Humboldt on Monday, July 26th.  Dakota Valley took the win 8-1.

Dakota Valley got a run in the top of the second and another in the top of the third for a 2-0 lead.  Everett Althoff reached on an error that scored Tanner Van Asselt to cut the lead in half at 2-1.  That’s as close as Tri-Valley would get however.  Dakota Valley got a run in the top of the fifth, three more in the top of the sixth, and two in the seventh for the win.

Tri-Valley was held to just three hits in the game.  Noah Haynes, Mason Hendrixson, and Holden Rise all had singles.  Kaden Egger pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts.  Beau Keith pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two runs, one earned, on a hit with two walks and a strikeout.  Aidan Heitkamp pitched one inning and allowed two earned runs on three hits.
