February 16, 2021 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team traveled to Milbank on Saturday, February 13th.  The game started a bit earlier than normal for a regular season double-header game, but the Mustangs overcame the early start time and first half shooting slump to get a 52-35 road victory.

The Mustangs shot just 26% in the first half (8-31), made just one of eleven three-point attempts and were four-of-eight from the free-throw line.  Tri-Valley held a 7-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and 21-16 at halftime.

Tri-Valley was able to regroup at halftime and find their offensive stride.  The Mustangs outscored Milbank 17-11 in the third quarter for a 38-27 lead heading into the fourth.  They then held the Bulldogs to just eight fourth-quarter points to take the victory.

The Mustangs shot better in the second half to finish the game at 37% (19-51) from the field, 22% (4-18) from three-point area, and 56% (10-18) from the free-throw line.
