Dells Softball Earns Another Weekend Split

September 21, 2020 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

Playing in their final weekend of home games, the Dell Rapids High School softball team earned a split in their two games on Sunday, September 20th.  Dell Rapids beat Tri-Valley 16-0 in three innings and then lost 8-0 to West Central.

All facets of the game were working well for Dell Rapids against Tri-Valley.  Starting pitcher Autumn Tomes pitched all three innings while only allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.  The defense was solid behind her committing just one error, and the offense scored plenty of runs in the win.

Lexi Ingalls collected three hits, including a double, and three RBIs in the game.  Cora Alderson had two hits and five RBIs.  Kylie Lebahn had two hits and three RBIs.  Haileigh Barnhart had a triple with three RBIs.  Kenzie Garry also had a hit with an RBI.

In the second game of the day, West Central pulled away late in the game for the 8-0 win.  They scored a run in the top of the first to lead 1-0.  They added two more in the top of the fourth inning, and then another run in the top of the fifth to push the lead to 4-0.  West Central then added four runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach for Dell Rapids.

Dell Rapids was limited to just three hits in the game.  Ingalls, Abigail Greenhoff, and Kylie Bittner each had a hit.  Bittner also pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up four runs, all earned, on 10 hits with one walk and one strikeout.  Kyra Wajer pitched the final 1 1/3 innings allowing four runs, all earned, on five hits and one strikeout.

Dell Rapids (4-2) will play in their final regular season games on Sunday, September 27th, hosted by Tri-Valley.  Dell Rapids will play Tea and Edgerton.
