The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals went back to Estelline for the Pat Gilligan Alumni Invitational on Tuesday, April 23rd. Twenty different teams participated in the event for the girls and 24 teams participated for the boys.
The St Mary Cardinal girls team finished with a total of 57 points for sixth. Colman-Egan won the girls title with 93 points. Estelline/Hendricks was second with 78 points, and Deubrook Area finished third with 72 points. The Cardinal boys team had a 14th place finish with 21 points. Milbank placed first with 104.25 points. Northwestern was second at 66 points, and James Valley Christian placed third with 59 points.
Ella Heinitz qualified for state in the 100m dash with a second place time of :12.67. Maddie Schwebach also had a state-qualifying throw in the discus with a first-place throw of 120’5″.
St Mary will be in Chester on Saturday, April 27th for the Tom Main Track Meet.
