The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal volleyball team avenged an early season loss and evened their record with a hard-fought straight set win over the Estelline/Henricks Redhawks on Thursday, September 13th, in Estelline.
The Cardinals had their easiest set in the first set as they cruised to a 25-15 victory. Both of the next two sets went extra points with the Cardinals winning the second set 26-24 and then winning the third set by a score of 27-25.
Veronica Beck led the offensive attack with nine kills. Cassie Mullaney and Maddie Schwebach both finished with seven kills each. Beck and Paige Bunkers both had two ace serves in the match. Bunkers also led the team with seven set assists. Beck was also strong at the net defensively with four blocks. Schwebach and Mullaney both had two blocks each. Macie Brown and Carley Maxwell were both solid in the back row with 11 and 1o digs respectively. Bunkers added five digs as well.
St Mary (5-5) will look to win their third match in a row when they travel to Howard on Tuesday, September 18th.
