Two-time defending Class A Boys Golf Champions, the Dell Rapids Quarriers, are headed back to the State A Boys Golf Championships to make a run at a three-peat. The Quarriers finished second in the Region 1A Boys Golf Tournament on Monday, September 28th, at Pine Hills Country Club in Milbank with a total of 343. Aberdeen Roncalli placed first with a team score of 341. Sisseton was the last team to qualify the entire team for state with a third place finish.
All five of the Quarrier golfers placed in the top 16 of the tournament. Ty Hoglund finished fourth with a round of 82. Mason Schmidt placed ninth with an 85. Jordan Kerns was 11th with an 86. Josh Parrott placed 13th with a round of 90, and Brent Eddy finished 16th with a 91. Gabe Heller from Aberdeen Roncalli placed first individually at the region meet with a round of 78.
The other schools that participated in the nine-team region were Madison, Sioux Valley, Groton, Milbank, McCook Central-Montrose, and Tri-Valley.
The two-day 2015 State A Boys Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, October 5th, and Tuesday, October 6th, at Pine Hills Country Club in Milbank.
