  • Attention students: The board approved free meals as a promotion on May 22, May 23, and May 24. Breakfasts and lunches will be free for all students on these days. Adult meals and a la carte items will be at the regular prices.
  • Reminder that all lunch balances need to be paid before dismissal on Friday.
  • Attention Students: If you received a padlock from Ms. Barber, please plan to return it to her today or tomorrow before school or during SRB time to receive your refund.
  • Attention 7/8 football players: Padlock return will take place tomorrow and Thursday from 8-8:25am in Mr. Lesnar’s room.
  • There will be a mandatory competitive cheer meeting Wednesday after school in the middle school commons. ALL competitive cheerleaders are required to attend.
  • Attention 8th grade athletes: The Dell Rapids Athletic Booster Club is providing $60 scholarship to put towards a summer camp of your choice to better your skills for participating in High School Athletics. Applications may be picked up in either the middle school office and must be returned to the High School office or Mailed to the PO Box by May 31st. No late applications will be accepted. The Dell Rapids High School Team camps and acceleration are great programs to use these scholarships on!
  • Attention 5th and 6th grade students: Dells Hospital is hosting a Super Sitter Class on Wednesday, May 29th from 9am-3pm. Class is limited to the first 20 registered.
  • The Dell Rapids Baseball umpire sign-up form is now active. Anyone ages 13 and older can sign up to be an umpire for our Midget (12U) and Pee Wee (10U) baseball games this summer. Go to www.dellrapidsbaseball.com to fill out the form.
  • Quarry Days Summer Soccer Camp: June 18-20, 9am-12pm for anyone interested – Sponsored by Dakota Alliance Soccer Club. For more information, please stop in the office.
  • SDSU women’s basketball is hosting summer camps starting June 3rd. For more information, please stop in the office.
  • The last day of school for students is THIS FRIDAY!

New Laptops for DR Middle School

NewDRLogoThe Dell Rapids Middle School recently purchased enough laptops so that every student in fifth through eighth grade would be able to be on a computer in their core classroom for the upcoming school year.

During the Dell Rapids School Board meeting on Monday, August 11th, Middle School Principal Fran Ruesink said, “We purchased enough laptops so that really any classroom that we’ve got for our core classes of 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th, they should be able to be one-on-one if they want to be with the combination of desktops and laptops right in the rooms.”

Ruesink also reported to the board that with the way that the Language Arts curriculum is going and the way that standardized testing requires an online performance, it’s something they felt was needed.

“None of those machines will go home, but the days of us going to the library for computer lab should be done.  Any classroom should be able to be up and going in five minutes or less,” said Ruesink.

The machines are already at the middle school, and technology staff are currently working to re-image the machines for school use.  The goal is to have the laptops ready for student-use by the time school starts on August 27th, or as soon as possible.

Lockdown Drill Held for K-12 Public School

Due to the recent tragic events in Newtown, Connecticut – the Dell Rapids Public Schools’ District Crisis Team held a lockdown drill for grades K-12 on Wednesday, December 19.  Please click on the “parent letter” link to see the letter sent to the parents of our students.
