After losing the first game of the year, the Dell Rapids Quarrier football team won their seventh game in a row on Friday, October 13th. The Quarriers defeated the Flandreau Fliers 54-15 on senior night at Dell Rapids High School.
The Quarriers held a 13-0 lead after the first quarter. Seth Spielmann scored on a 47-yard run with Hunter Garry. Spielmann then scored on a six yard run. Flandreau cut the lead to 13-8 in the second quarter after a 37-yard touchdown pass from Michael Witte from Bastian Erickson. Dell Rapids then closed out the half with three more scores. Carson Rentz connected with Jeffrey Schuch on a 23-yard touchdown pass. Spielmann scored his third touchdown of the half on a 47-yard run, and Nick Boever had a five-yard touchdown run. Dell Rapids led 35-8 at halftime.
The Quarriers continued the scoring attack in the third quarter. Eddie Price had a 36-yard run and also had an 80 yard touchdown pass to Alex Kringen to give the Quarriers a 48-8 lead after three quarters. Flandreau scored on a 30-yard run by Witte. Zach Schreier scored the last touchdown for Dell Rapids on a 5-yard fumble return.
Dell Rapids finished with 565 yards of total offense, 160 passing yards and 405 rushing yards. Flandreau finished with 208 yards of total offense.
Rentz was 4-6 passing for 80 yards and a touchdown. Price was 1-2 passing for 80 yards and a touchdown. Kringen had one catch for 80 yards and a touchdown. Schuch had two catches for 43 yards and a touchdown. Josh Heinemann had a 20-yard catch, and Blake Reider had a 17-yard catch. Spielmann had 10 carries for 151 yards and three touchdowns. Price had three carries for 55 yards and a touchdown. Boever had six carries for 55 yards and a touchdown. Heinemann had six carries and 55 yards. Thane Hilmoe led the team with six tackles. Lealand Randel had four tackles. Andrew Hegge, Cole Van Duyn, and Reider all finished with three tackles.
Dell Rapids (7-1) will end the regular season on Thursday, October 19th. The Quarriers will play undefeated Madison Bulldogs in Madison. The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
