  • After day two of Penny Wars, the totals are as follows:
    7th grade: -7510 points
    5th grade: -6041 points
    6th grade: -4358 points
    And currently in the lead is 8th grade with -2331 points!!!
    ALL MONEY NEEDS TO BE IN THE OFFICE BY NOON TODAY.  Winners will be announced at the end of the day today.  All money raised will be donated to the American Red Cross for relief efforts following hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
  • DR Chamber of Commerce and Big Sioux Media are hosting a Pumpkin Decorating Contest.  Details are posted on the office window
  • If you have shoes that you no longer use or need, consider donating them to the “Shoes for the Shoeless” program.  Shoes are then distributed to those in need in the Sioux Falls area.  Donations will be accepted in the office until Friday, October 27.  See the posters for more information.
  • FCCLA dues should be paid by next Tuesday, October 24.
  • Reminder to 5th and 6th grade band students:  today is band Friday!!
  • Attention 7th and 8th Grade Football Players: Equipment return will be Monday starting at 3:30 in the training room where we checked out equipment. Please make sure you wash and dry your football clothing. Also, the Pizza Party at the Pizza Ranch will start at 5:30. The cost of a buffet for team members is $7.00. Let the coaches know if you need help finding a ride to the Pizza Ranch.
  • Good Luck to the Competitive Cheer Team as they travel to Rapid City tomorrow for the State Meet!  DRHS competes at 8:10pm (Mountain Time).  Watch the entire competition on SDPB.org

  • After day two of Penny Wars, the totals are as follows:
    7th grade: -3168 points
    6th grade: -2531 points
    8th grade: -1638 points
    And currently in the lead is 5th grade with -1535 points!!!
    Bring in your spare change all week for a chance to win a movie and popcorn party for your whole grade!  Remember, in order to GAIN points you must add pennies to your grades jug.  LOWER other grade totals by adding silver coins and bills to their jugs.  At the end of the week, the grade with the most points will win!  All money raised will be donated to the American Red Cross for relief efforts following hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Penny Wars will end at 2pm tomorrow. The winning grade will be announced by the end of the day tomorrow.

    5th grade: -1316 points
    8th grade: -909 points
    6th grade: -744 points
    And currently in the lead is 7th grade with -703 points!!!

  • The 7th and 8th grade football teams hosted Vermillion yesterday for the final games of the season. The 7th grade played a strong game, using good offense and defense to keep the Tanagers off balance. Recording their third shutout of the season, the 7th grade defeated Vermillion by the score of 26-0, bringing their season record to 3-4. The 8th grade played against a very solid offensive and defensive front line for the Tanagers. The Quarriers fell behind at half 14-0. The 8th grade shutout Vermillion and added a score, but could not capitalize on two different offensive drives. The 8th grade team fell to Vermillion 14-6, bringing their season record to 5-2. Both teams showed improvement as the season progressed and found success in many different ways. This group learned to deal with setbacks and overcome them and looked to get better each week in practice.
  • Team members for the 7th and 8th grade football teams include: Jade A, Sam C, Ryler E, Braden F, Trevor G, Austin H, Will J, Chase J, Kamren K, Kaiden L, Dylan, Owen N, Shane N, Brayden P, Luke R, Desmond R, Carter T, Joshua D, Matthew G, Austin H, Landon H, Victor K, Ian M, Weston M, Tristen M, Luke R, Landon R, Dakota S, Shane S, and Landon V.
  • We look forward to having the 7th grade return next year to our practices and 8th grade, you will be missed as you move forward to high school football.

  • Thanks to everyone who attended the Book Fair during conferences and participated in the Guessing Game. Students were able to make guesses as to how many cups of oats there were in one container and how many pounds of water there were in another container.  Answers were 45 cups of oats and 23.2 lbs of water.
