  • ***Student flu shot clinic is scheduled for next Tuesday, Oct. 28 during school hours.  Permission forms are due THIS MORNING.***
  • Haven will be having a Halloween Dance Fundraiser for students 12 years & under tonight from 6:00-8:00 pm at the River Community Church Gym (old elem) to raise money for program supplies & to help keep tuition costs as low as possible.  Admission is $3 for students; adults are free.  All youth must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear your Halloween costume (no toy weapons!) Meals & concessions will be available at an additional cost.  Music & entertainment will be provided by Mr. Thompson’s 2 Turntables & A Microphone, LLC!!
  • Attention Cross Country Runners:  Please turn in your clean uniforms to Coach Hegge.
  • Attention 7th and 8th grade girls:  If you are interesting in playing basketball this year, please sign up in the office.
  • Good Luck to the Competitive Cheer team as they travel to Watertown today for the State Competition.
  • Good Luck to Cross Country runners Zane Schumaker, Shaylee Hoff and Aspen Hansen as they participate in the State Cross meet on Saturday in Huron @ Broadland Creek Golf Course.  Meet starts at 10am.
  • **There will be a pep rally for State Competitive Cheer and Cross Country athletes at 12:15pm today in the HS gym.
  • Good Luck to the Oral Interp students as they travel to Sioux Falls Washington HS today for a meet.  Dismiss students at 1:45 for a 2pm bus time.
  • Good Luck to the JV football team as they travel to Madison today.  Game starts at 4pm.
  • Good Luck to the volleyball team as they host Chester tonight start in 5pm.
  • Each year, Red Ribbon Week is held to commemorate the death of Kiki Camarena, a United States DEA Agent who was tortured and killed in Mexico while working in the fight against drugs. Now students, teachers, and families across America participate in this annual awareness campaign.  Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated with students at the elementary, middle and high school as well as at St. Mary’s.  The week’s activities will include dress-up days:
    ·         Monday – “Sock It To Drugs” – Wear crazy socks!
    ·         Tuesday – “Team Up Against Drugs” – Wear Quarrier clothes!
    ·         Wednesday – “Drugs Turn You Inside Out” – Wear your clothes inside out!
    ·         Thursday – “Be All You Can Be” – Wear camo!
    ·         Friday – “Color My World Drug Free” – Wear red!
  • High school students will be in the MS commons on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings before school with Red Ribbon pledges. All MS students are encouraged to sign a pledge if they are committed to loving themselves by staying healthy & drug free. We will be having daily trivia next week as well. Trivia questions will be in the morning announcements – homerooms should submit their answers as soon as possible to Connie.
  • Red ribbons will be handed out on Monday morning- students are asked to wear the ribbons all week long. Prizes will be given throughout the week to students who are “caught wearing their red ribbons.”

 

 

Thursday, October 23rd

  • The 7th grade football team defeated Tri-Valley 20 to 0 yesterday saving their best game for last. The 7th grade finished the season with three wins and four losses.
  • The 8th grade football team used a strong second half to defeat Tri-Valley 24 to 6 yesterday. The 8th grade finished the season with five wins and two losses.
  • Attention 7/8 grade football players: Equipment return will be Thursday, starting at 3:30 in the MS Gym with a pizza party to follow at the Pizza Ranch beginning at 5:30. Please wash your football clothes prior to Thursday.

  • Yesterday the 7th grade girls volleyball team finished their season on a winning note by defeating Flandreau. The girls played well as a team and won game one with solid hitting and passing. The girls played a tough second game and fell short. In the third game the girls served well and hit well and finished them off two games to one. Great season girls!
  • The 8th grade volleyball team played their last game of the season last night.  We traveled to take on the Fliers of Flandreau.  They hustled well in the back row, served well and were aggressive at the net spiking. Setters were moving to get the ball it was a total team effort in the win.  After all was said and done we won 2-0.  Great job girls!!
    **Remember tomorrow meeting right after school bring clean uniform!!!

  • Congratulations to Megan L. for her 1st place finish at the SouthEast Area Bowling Tournament for the Special Olympics.  Way to go Megan!!
  • The 5th grade girls club volleyball placed 3rd at the end of the season tournament on Saturday. They beat Tri-Valley, MCM, Elkton and Lennox. They lost a battle to get into the championship against Baltic. Great Season Girls!
  • Good Luck to the 7/8 volleyball teams as they travel to Flandreau today.  Dismiss athletes at 2:50 for a 3pm bus time.  Matches start at 4pm.
