August 6, 2019 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

Wilson, Terry obit photoTerry Alan Wilson, “Willie”, age 63, died Thursday, August 1, 2019 in Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 10, 2019 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Baltic, SD.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, August 9, 2019 at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids, SD.

He is survived by his brothers, Thomas R. Wilson, Dell Rapids, SD and Charles E. Wilson, Volga, SD and sister, Cynthia J. Wilson, Houston, TX and extended family of the Wilson and Brende families to include several cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry R. Wilson and Lillian A. Wilson.

Terry was a graduate of Dell Rapids High School in 1975 and earned a Bachelor’s degree at Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD. Trademarks of Terry included persistence, determination, and an enduring spirit which resulted in employment at Citibank where he worked several years and then progressed to Target National Bank where he worked until 2017.

As a child, Terry was in Boy Scouts which was in line with the values that Terry was taught and held throughout his life. His adult hobbies included the pursuit of growing the family tree through his genealogical work, building model planes as well as assembling other model kits, John Wayne movies, watching old Westerns, and gardening at the Dell Rapids homestead where he took great pride in how the rhubarb grew and having the best looking yard on the block. Terry was well known for his compassion toward others and love of conversation over a cup of coffee at the Fryin’ Pan with longtime friends and never meeting a stranger.

The family is grateful to Terry’s friends who provided the love and support throughout his life. He talked about his friends often who added much joy to each day as he looked forward to talking with you again. His parting words were: “Have a good night and a better tomorrow.”
