Wilhelmina (Visser) Wickre

Wilhelmina WickreWilhelmina Wickre, 94, of Colton died Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center in Dell Rapids.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 7, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Colton. Burial will be in the Minnehaha Cemetery, rural Colton. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.

Wilhelmina was born January 6, 1920 in Hull, Iowa to parents Weep and Alice (Burgers) Visser. At the age of six months she moved with her family to the Colton area. She attended the Hamre County School. She married Hjalmer Wickre March 24, 1939 at St. Jacobs Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Colton area and she went to work at the IOOF Home in Dell Rapids in 1973 and worked there until her retirement in 1990.

She enjoyed her flowers, cooking, baking, playing card, dancing and listening to gospel and country music, but most of all enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Grateful for having shared her life are a son, David (Judy) Wickre, Sioux Falls; three daughters, Marcene (Dan) Woldt, Sioux Falls, Nancy (Pete) Turgusen, Dell Rapids; Darla (Dick) Jelken, Sloan, Iowa; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren with one on the way; four great great grandchildren with one on the way. four sisters, Ethel (Gerald) Van Der Vliet, Colton; Bernice Wrage, Dell Rapids; Lucille Miedema, Hospers, Iowa; and Arlene Hardy, Colton and her special friends at the Colton Assisted Living.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hjalmer Wickre, a son Jerry Wickre, brothers, Walt Visser and Tony Visser, and four sisters, Nellie Waswick, Henrietta Roetman, Winner Visser and Audrey Wold.

Memorials may be directed to the First Lutheran Church, Colton.   Condolences may be left at www.minnehahafuneralhome.com
