Jonathan E Puttmann, 39, of Dell Rapids passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. Burial will be in Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the church. Jon enjoyed life. His dedication to his children, family and friends was of utmost importance without question. He had a special compassion, patience and total commitment to his children. He gave all to them and was guiding them down God’s pathway.

Jon was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 24, 1977 to Stephen and Dianna ( Bottjen) Puttmann. At the age of 2 ½ the family moved to a farm near Estelline, SD followed by a move at the age of 9 to the Dell Rapids area where he attended Dell Rapids Public School through high school graduation. He attended STI for a year studying horticulture.

Jon married Jaime Bunkers in December of 2006, making their home in Dell Rapids. They had two children, Addison and Harrison with the joy of having a step-daughter, Lani Bunkers.

Jon and his children attended church faithfully where he was active as a Sunday school teacher. He loved our Lord. He also enjoyed singing, being with friends and family and telling stories of his missteps, successes and life in general.

Along with his children, Lani, Addison and Harrison, surviving family members include his parents, Stephen and Dianna Puttmann of Dell Rapids; brother, Brandon (Kathleen) Puttmann of Colton, SD and their children, KaSandra, Kimberly and Braedon; grandmother, Marlyss Bottjen of Kingsley, IA and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Bottjen and Earl and Betty Puttmann.
