Sherrie (Hill) Meyer of Sioux Falls died peacefully on Sept. 7 after a swift battle with a rare blood disorder.
Born in 1945 in Willow Lake to Orville and Grace (Johnson) Hill, she married Ron Meyer in 1967. Sherrie earned her BS in Early Childhood Ed from SDSU and taught at the Flandreau Indian School. Later she established a preschool in Dell Rapids, and served numerous terms on the School Board.
After nearly twenty years, she retired and became the Barnes & Noble Story Lady. Children young and old recognized her wherever she went.
Above all, Sherrie believed in Jesus Christ as her Savior, and shared her faith with passion and joy. She was a member of Sioux Falls First Assembly of God, led prayer and Bible study groups, and prayed at Destiny’s free clinic.
She is survived by beloved husband Ron, daughters Amy (Eric) Schilder of Grafton, WI, Mindy (Jason) Morgan of Fayetteville, NC, grandsons Tristan and Duncan; sister Ramona (Arlan) Warwick of Watertown; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Miller West Funeral Chapel, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 am Thursday at Crosswalk Community Church, 6101 S. Mogen Ave. Condolences may be left at www.millerfh.com.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Christian Center Elementary School in Sioux Falls or to the Watertown Christian School.
