Rodney L. Feuerhelm

Rodney FeuerhelmRodney L. Feuerhelm, 67, of Trent, SD, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at his home after a short illness. His funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Trent Baptist Church.  Interment will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014 with the family present from 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. at Kahler Funeral Home.  To leave condolences, visit www.kahlerfh.com.

Rodney Lee Feuerhelm was born on October 4, 1946 at Chester, SD, the son of Gordon and Mabel (Miller) Feuerhelm. He grew up and live in Trent and attended Trent school. He was drafted into the United States Army in October of 1967. He served sixteen months in the Korean War. After his discharge he returned home to Trent and went to work in construction with his father.  He married Susan Halvorson on April 4, 1980 at the Trent Baptist Church. The couple made their home in Trent. Rodney continued to do construction until driving truck for Harold’s Trucking. He later worked for Dakotaland Auto Glass, Hoffman Sanitation and Sam’s Club. Due to poor health, he retired from Sam’s Club in 2010.

Rodney enjoyed his many trips to the Black Hills with his family on their four wheelers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan of Trent; his son, Kelly (Amber) of Baltic; his daughters, Heather (Chris) Klein of Colton and Dulcy (Scott) Poppenga of Worthing; his grandchildren, Gillian, Elizabeth, Reese, Caden, Connor and Kaylee and his sister, Judy (Darrel) Bothe of Elkton.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
