Richard Albers

Richard AlbersRichard E. Albers, 67, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 4, 2015. His funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 9 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Baltic, SD with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Thursday, January 8 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Condolences may be left at www.georgeboom.com.

Richard E. Albers, son of Earl and Alice (Gregersen) Albers, was born August 20, 1947 at Sioux Valley Hospital. At this time, he lived briefly in Rural Tea, SD with his parents, and later moved to Staples, MN where he began his elementary education. They then moved to rural Garretson, SD where he continued his education at Bothun #13 and graduated from Garretson High School in 1966. After continuing his education in Omaha, NE, he moved back to rural Garretson. He then began his trucking career with Gamble Robinson (SnoBoy). He also farmed with his parents and brother while continuing his trucking career. After nearly 40 years of trucking, he continued to enjoy his farming career in rural Garretson.

He was a member of East Nidaros Lutheran Church and the Henry G. Fix American Legion Post at Garretson.

Grateful for having shared his life are Jane Westegaard, Sioux Falls, her son, Eric (Jen), Micah & Ryker, her daughter, Jamie (Tim), Mykayla & Morgan; 2 sisters, Karen (James) Nielsen, Angela, Laurie, Ryan, Rebecca & Jared, Dell Rapids, Barbara (Gene) Hamann, Michael & Matthew, Hardwick, MN; his brother, Wayne (JoAnn) Albers, Jennifer, Jamie, Nicole & Naomi, Garretson; 18 great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jonathon Nielsen.
