Ordia Rave

Ordia F. Rave, 93, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Orchard Hills in Dell Rapids. Her funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Reformed Church, Dell Rapids. Interment will be in the Logan Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 with the family present at 6:30 p.m. and a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. at Kahler Funeral Home. http://www.kahlerfh.com/

Ordia was born on December 13, 1918, on a farm near Lennox, SD, the daughter of Henry and Vera (Martens) Uhden. At a young age, she moved with her family to a farm east of Dell Rapids. She attended Trent School and graduated from Trent High School in 1936. She attended Northern State University and graduated with a teaching degree. She taught country school until she was married. She married Arthur L. Rave on June 7, 1942 at the Uhden family farm. After their marriage, the couple farmed and was still active in farming at the time of Ordia’s death. They couple moved to an acreage in 1975 and then into Dell Rapids in 2011.

Ordia was a member of the Reformed Church in Dell Rapids, the Garden Club where she was a past state officer, and was active with the ladies aid and Sunday school. She was a poll sitter during elections for many years.  She enjoyed reading, wrote many letters, never forgetting her children or grandchildren’s birthdays. She remembered them all.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Arthur L. Rave of Dell Rapids; her sons, David (Jean) Rave of Dell Rapids, Lloyd (Linda) Rave of Dell Rapids and John (LeeAnn) Rave of Dell Rapids; her daughter, Magelle Narigon of Dell Rapids; her nine grandchildren, Tim Rave, Tracy Welbig, Shawnna Godwin, Heath Rave, John Narigon, Jessica Eckmann, Joslyn Nelson, Jesse Rave and Jasmine Buseman and her 16 great grandchildren and her brother, Clarence (Virginia) Uhden of OR.
