Michael “Mick” Krantz

Mick KrantzMichael “Mick” Krantz, 71, Dell Rapids, SD passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls after a courageous battle with ALS disease since April of 2014. Mick was born on April 20, 1946 in Sioux Falls son of Andy and Alice (Ingemann) Krantz. He received his education at Juve Country School and graduated from Trent High School in 1964. He started working at Amdahl Motors in Pipestone and was married on July 2, 1965 at Dell Rapids to Mary Ryan. They started farming east of Trent and continued to farm even after they moved to Dell Rapids in 2011. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and he served on the church council, the Cenex Board and the Flandreau School Board. Mick loved to work on the farm, motorcycling, attending grandchildren’s events, socializing with people and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; 3 children: Todd (Jennifer), Flandreau, Michelle (Jerry) Bunkers, Dell Rapids, Kevin (AliceAnn), Dell Rapids; 9 grandchildren: Tate (Emily), Paige, O’Shae, Alexis, Elizabeth, Michael, Andrew, Sidney, Brooklynn; 1 great-grandson, Henry; 3 siblings, Jim (Linda) Nelson, Watertown, SD, Billy (Joann) Nelson, Garden City, KS, Barb (Rodney) Hoffman, Lenexa, KS and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Roger Hersrud and his wife, Lynette.

Visitation will be 4:30 – 7:00 pm Monday, June 12, 2017 with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau. Burial will be in Oslo Cemetery, Trent, SD. Memorials to the ALS Association.  On-line condolences may be left at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
