Luella C. Buskerud, 95, of Dell Rapids passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Lund Hospice House in AZ, where she had recently moved to be close to her daughter. A memorial service will be scheduled later this summer. On-line condolences may be left at the Kahler Funeral Home website.

Luella was born on March 26, 1922 in Chester, SD to Nels and Pauline (Sorenson) Pederson. She attended Rudd Country School for 8 years. She and her siblings walked the two miles to school in all types of weather. She graduated from Chester High School. Luella met her husband at Spawn’s beach where they danced to Lawrence Welk. They were married in 1940 and lived in Dell Rapids where she lived with two small children when Orville served in WWII. They raised their three children in Dells and she continued living there until just recently moving close to her daughter.

She loved company, you always had coffee and something to go with it at her house. Cooking was a favorite pastime of hers and she was a wonderful cook. In the later years her passion was putting puzzles together and listening to KXRB. Luella and her husband started Buskerud Construction and she was the parts runner for them.

She attended the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids and was on a monthly church letter committee where she brought treats often. She was a very giving person and always put others first. She never complained and always looked on the positive side of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orville Buskerud, her sister, Viola Hoyme and her four brothers, Herman, Thermal, Leonard and Alvin Pederson.

Grateful for having a wonderful mother and grandmother are Sharron (Jon) Kayser of Mesa, AZ, Terry (Veronica) Buskerud of North Bend, OR and Ron (Marcia) Buskerud of Rapid City, SD; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great great-grandson; many nieces, nephews and close friend, Joyce Geraets and many more dear friends.
