LeRoy Brau

LeRoy BrauLeRoy Brau, age 66 of Redwood Falls, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Seasons Hospice House surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial was held on January 7. On-line condolences may be left at Stephens Funeral Home website.

LeRoy Brau was born February 28, 1950 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to Raymond and Marina (Frericks) Brau. He was raised by Lucan where he went to Our Lady of Victory School. LeRoy was baptized and confirmed there. He went through the 8th grade there and then to Milroy High School where he graduated in 1968. LeRoy enlisted in the Air Force in 1969 and did basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas. He was an aircraft mechanic crew chief on the C130. LeRoy’s 4 years of duty included California (Travis AFB), Texas (Dyess AFB), England, Philippines, and Vietnam. In 1969 he married Rosemary Schmidt in Whichita Falls, Texas (Sheppard AFB) and was honorably discharged in 1973. After the service, the couple made their home by Milroy and then later moved to New Ulm where LeRoy worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company selling and repairing the machines. In 1975, they moved to Redwood Falls where LeRoy worked for Schult Homes for 37 years where he was assistant purchasing manager. LeRoy belonged to St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and also a money counter. He was a life-long member of the VFW. LeRoy was a carpenter and handyman. He loved to fish and hunt in his earlier years, and later in life he enjoyed spending time at the lake and traveling. LeRoy loved spending time with his family and friends especially his grandkids and going to their activities.

LeRoy is survived by his wife Rosy of 47 years; children: Brian (Mona) Brau of St. Louis, MO, Stacey (Jason) Hennen of Dell Rapids, SD, Stefanie (John) Hurst of Lakeville, and Sara (Ben) Wobker of Kirkland, WA; grandchildren: Jack and Meera Brau, Ty and Kaylee Hennen, Sophie, Blake, and Brock Hurst, and Trajen Wobker; siblings: Darlene (Vince) LeGare, MaryAnn (Delmar) Portner, and Dale (Net) Brau; sister-in-law Judy Brau; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry.
