Jean Lemme

Jean A. Lemme, 83, died Friday, May, 3, 2013, at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison.

Funeral services are at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison with the Rev. Constanze Hagmaier officiating. Burial is in the Zion Cemetery in Colton. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Jean Aartun was born May 8, 1929, near Lyons to George and Theresa (Fronsdal) Aartun.

She graduated from Colton High School and married Tillman Lemme on July 1, 1947, at Pipestone, Minn. They lived on a farm near Colton until moving to Madison and later to Baltic. Tillman died in 1982.

Jean worked in activities and social services at Terrace Manor Nursing Home in Dell Rapids for 20 years. She retired and returned to Madison.

Jean was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity circles and quilting, Sprouts Garden Club and Senior Bowling League.

Survivors include six sons, Ralph (Vicky) of Holiday Island, Ark., Wayne (Kathy) of Sioux Falls, Steve (Maureen) of Seward, Alaska, Dan (Gayla) of Madison, Ron (Virginia) of Wentworth and the Rev. Tim (Rev. JoAnn) of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Connie Behrens of Madison and Rose Lemme of Decatur, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and three brothers, Norman (Trudy) Aartun of Madison, Terry (Marlys) Aartun of Colton and Orlin (Jeanette) Aartun of Sioux Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four grandchildren and one son-in-law.
