By this time next year, three players from Dell Rapids baseball will be playing college baseball. Trey Randel and Brett Mogen are currently in their freshman year playing college baseball, and Josh Roemen will be playing college baseball next year.
Randel is currently in his first year at Dakota State University playing baseball for the Trojans. Randel has started many games this season at second base and pitcher for the Trojans. Currently DSU is 2-26 overall this season and 2-18 in the North Star Athletic Association. Randel plans to play amateur baseball this summer for Dell Rapids PBR.
Mogen is also in his first year, but at South Dakota State University, playing for the Jacks. Mogen is a pitcher, getting most of his time in middle relief on the mound this season. Currently Mogen has compiled 31.0 innings giving up 17 runs, 16 earned, on 31 hits with 10 walks and 26 strikeouts. Mogen has an 0-2 record with a 4.65 ERA for the Jacks who are 16-19 on the season and 9-9 in the Summit League. Mogen will play another year of Legion baseball this summer for Dell Rapids.
Randel and Mogen will get to face off against one another when the Jacks host Dakota State on Wednesday, April 25th, at 3:00 p.m. in Brookings.
Roemen will join the college ranks next year when he takes the field for the Mount Marty Lancers. Roemen will also play Legion baseball this summer for Dell Rapids and is currently on the Dell Rapids HS Club baseball team.
