Services for Arvin Gilbertson, 88, of Lake Wilson will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Church in Lake Wilson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial is at Hillside Cemetery in Lake Wilson. Military honors accorded by the Chandler American Legion Post and the Lake Wilson American Legion Post.

He died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was born Jan. 20, 1925, on the family farm near Chandler to Gilbert and Myrtle Schmidt Gilbertson. On Dec. 14, 1944, he was drafted into the United States Navy and served on the USS Salerno Bay. He was honorably discharged June 17, 1946.

Survivors include his wife Mary Ellen of Lake Wilson; children Ed of Slayton, Jeffrey of Windom, Darla Selken of Brandon, S.D., and Brian of Lake Wilson; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Darwin of Shakopee, his twin brother, Arlo of Dell Rapids, S.D., and Betty VanLant of Bellflower, Calif.
