Sister Martina Kueter

Martina KueterSister Martina Kueter, 87, a Sister of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, died May 21, 2014, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen, SD.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Martina was held Saturday, May 24th, in Blessed Sacrament Chapel, Presentation Convent, Aberdeen.

Mary Doreen was born February 11, 1927 in Humboldt, SD, to Lenora (Kuborn) and William Kueter. She attended elementary and secondary schools in Humboldt, graduating from high school in 1945.

Doreen entered Presentation Convent September 8, 1949 and made her first profession of vows August 10, 1952. Sister Martina began her ministry in health care as an LPN at Presentation Children’s Home in Sioux Falls, SD. She also ministered in Pastoral Care at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD, and in domestic service in schools at Milbank, Mitchell and Dell Rapids. Sister also worked in Home Health Care, was a parish visitor and served as Local Director at Presentation Convent from 1994 to 2000, Sister Martina served in dietary at Bishop Robert Carlson’s residence in Sioux Falls, SD. She ministered to many people from 1945 to 2000 and then retired to Presentation Convent. Sister Martina lived at Avera Mother Joseph Manor from 2005-2014.

Sister Martina is survived by her community of Presentation Sisters, 5 brothers, Robert (Irene), Humboldt, SD, Edward, Hartford, SD, Charles, Hills, MN, Richard (Donna), Sioux Falls, SD, and William (Lorraine), LaPuente, CA; 3 sisters, Betty (Vincent) Ketcham, Sioux Falls, SD, Dorothy Ketcham, Parker, SD, Carol Stinehart, Sioux Falls, SD and many nieces and nephews.

Sister Martina is preceded in death by her parents, Lenora (Kuborn) and William Kueter and one sister, Patricia Clark.

Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery with Spitzer Miller Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
