Robert H. Richter, 76, of Sioux Falls formerly of Madison passed away from leukemia on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Saturday until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at Madison.
He farmed his entire life except for the years he served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1957. He married Pat Belfrage on June 12, 1965.
His passion for farming, love of nature and love of music served him well. He sang bass in the Madison Methodist Church Choir and the Emissaries Quartet for about 25 years. He was a 50 year member of the United Methodist Church where he served on the finance committee. Presently, he was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. He served on the Herman Township Board and Lake County Zoning Board for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Richter, Sioux Falls, son, Max Richter, Minneapolis, MN; a daughter, Holly (Brent) Richter, St. Paul, MN; sister, Marlene (Eugene) Boer, Madison; sister-in-law, Peg (Keith) Nelson, Dell Rapids; step mother, Vi Belfrage, Sioux Falls; three nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Laura Richter, his in-laws, Lewis and Evelyn Belfrage, and a sister Joyce in 1950 at the age of 11. www.minnehahafuneralhome.com
