Robert Anderson

Robert W. Anderson age 90 of Tracy, MN died Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy. Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. The interment will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Slayton, MN, after a luncheon served immediately following the service in the church social hall. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.

Robert (Bob) William Anderson was born April 6, 1922 to Oscar and Edith (Krueger) Anderson in Otisco, MN. He attended country school and then Blue Earth Public Schools. As a youth he lived and worked on an area farm. One of his highlights as a 4-H’er was raising and showing the 1940 Junior Livestock Show Grand Champion Steer. He enrolled in the University of Minnesota Agricultural School on the St. Paul Campus and graduated in 1941.

Bob moved to Chula Vista, CA and worked for Consolidated Aircraft before enlisting in the Army Air Corp as an Aviation Cadet for pilot training. On November 22, 1942 Bob married Dorothy Schroll of Slayton, MN in Chula Vista, CA. He received his honorable discharge on March 1, 1944.

They returned to Minnesota and farmed near Dovray, MN. In 1962 they moved to a farm west of Tracy, MN. After a farm accident, Bob retired from farming and became a feed salesman. In 1999 Bob and Dorothy moved into Tracy until October of 2011 when they moved to O’Brien Court.

Bob was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church and a past member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray. He served on both church councils, was a member of the Tracy Lions Club and served as a longtime 4-H leader. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening, woodworking, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. All these things he enjoyed, live on through his children and grandchildren.

On Friday, August 31, 2012, Bob died at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy at the age of 90.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy Anderson of Tracy, MN; two daughters, Peggy (Sander) Ludeman of Tracy, MN and Marcy (Jim) Anderson of Dell Rapids, SD; two sons, McRae (Cindy) Anderson of Afton, MN and Mark (Lori) Anderson of Crystal, MN; seven grandchildren, Tara and Jon Anderson; Kyle (Jamy), Karsten, and Kiira Anderson; Sander (Breanna) Ludeman and Dayna (Ben) Bassett; seven great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Schroll of Jackson, MN; nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Edith, one sister, Maxine Freeman, and two brothers-in-law, Harold and Russell Schroll and sister-in-law, Onata Mae (Skillie) Schroll.  www.almliefh.com
