Marie Coomes Johnson passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 28, 2014, in Huntsville, Texas.
She was born August 27, 1925 to Felix and Margaret Coomes in Chester, South Dakota. She attended Chester High School, General Beadle and obtained her Masters Degree from Augustana College. Marie was an elementary school teacher in Sioux Falls for 32 years. In 1975, she married Leonard Johnson and soon relocated to Mesa, Arizona. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years Leonard Johnson.
She is survived by her sisters Theresa Coomes of Dell Rapids, SD, Helen Coomes Mancuso and husband Geno of Huntsville, Texas, brothers: Frank Coomes and Eddie Coomes and wife Lois of Colton SD. Nieces: Patty Coomes Mechtenberg, Julia Coomes Vansco, Lori Coomes Brunick, BJ Coomes Wylie, Cindy Coomes Reesman, Gina Mancuso Lawson, Margo Mancuso English. Nephews: Terry Coomes and Tim Coomes. And numerous great nieces and nephews.
