Margie Elaine Johnson, age 76, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Christ the Victor Chapel, First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Monday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids.
Margie was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on March 21, 1937 to Clyde and Madeline (Christenson) Johnson. She spent her early years in and around the Baltic area. She graduated in 1955 from Baltic High School.
Margie was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1956-1957. From 1960-1971, she lived in Dell Rapids and worked at the Dells Bakery. She then worked at Sioux Valley Hospital in food service from 1971-1996.
Margie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, where she was a member of the Hannah Circle. She was also member of South Dakota Bread for the World and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. Margie was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following Augustana College and the Minnesota Vikings & Twins. She loved to read and had a very disciplined devotion to reading her bible and praying.
