LeRoy Carlson

LeRoy M. Carlson, 80, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Brookings Health System in Brookings.

Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce. Visitation is from 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday, at the Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.

LeRoy Carlson was born on Dec. 18, 1932, in Kingsbury County, the son of Ragnar “Tom” and Betty (Liljegren) Carlson. He received his education in rural school in Kingsbury County. He served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. He married JoAnn Moen on Oct. 18, 1956, in Brookings County. After their marriage they farmed near Dell Rapids until 1961, when they moved near Arlington. LeRoy then farmed near Bruce, from 1962 until his retirement in 1994. In November 1994, they moved to Lake Poinsett.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce, and also a member of the Bowlers Association. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, bowling, and especially spending time with family and friends.

LeRoy is survived by his wife JoAnn of Lake Poinsett; his children, Sherry (Ron) Nesheim of Renner, Lois (Dave) Eller, Donna (Dale) Tolk and Todd (Crystal) Carlson all of Brookings; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers Melvin (June) Carlson, Floyd (Norma) Carlson all of Lake Norden; two sisters, Vera Thomas of Lake Norden and Dorothy (Bud) Strande of Lake Preston.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ole, one sister, Delores, and two infant sons. Please visit www.eidsnessfuneralhome.com to leave condolences.
