Lennie Spilde

Lennie “Len” R. Spilde, 69, of Dell Rapids, SD and Sun City West, AZ, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013. His memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 at the North Preston Lutheran Church, rural Lake Preston, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service. Len was born on the 14th of August, 1944 in Arlington, SD, the third of six children born to Donald and Ruby Spilde. Len was a witty, kind, gentle man blessed with many artistic talents including a gift for creating amazing food and woodworking.

Len began his career as a chef in Chicago, eventually owning successful restaurants in S. Sioux City, NE and Sioux Falls, SD. He married Judy Spilde on October 30, 1974. They enjoyed a thirty year marriage, raising four children. Len and Judy were avid golfers and travellers.

Len was preceded in death by Judy, his beloved wife, and his siblings Rodney Spilde and Donalyn Sour.

Len is survived by his children Daniel (Terri) Spilde of San Antonio, TX, Kimberley (Wesley) Willuweit of Dell Rapids, SD, Lori Spilde of Houston, TX, and Jody (Kimberley) Spilde of Kearney, NE; siblings Julie Carlson, of Brookings, SD, Reggie (Judy) Spilde of Manteno, IL, and Shauna (Jerry) Clanton of Omaha, NE; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
