Larry Prokop, 61 of Tea, South Dakota died unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack, on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his home. Larry Eugene Prokop was born on August 1, 1952 at Hot Springs, South Dakota, the son of Bobby and Betty Rose (Ward) Prokop. He grew up in several places and attended school in Sioux City, Iowa. He had been married to Dianna Martin and two children: Larry Jr and Amy, were born to this union. On September 1, 1996 he was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kathy” Kautz. The couple lived in Sioux Falls before making their home in Tea. Larry worked at John Morrell & Co. for 15 years and then worked at Carlisle Plastics for 10 years. He went on to work at RMS Roller-Grinder, Highway Improvements and was currently employed at Sioux Steel in Lennox, SD. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was an avid NASCAR fan and liked to watch the television program NCIS. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be remembered for his story telling. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Kathy of Tea; children: Larry Prokop, Jr. and Amy Prokop both of Sioux Falls, Chad MacRunnels, Tea, Michele Murray, Dell Rapids, Jennifer MacRunnels, Sioux Falls and Brandi (Randall) Yates, Tea; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild; siblings: Bobby Prokop and Billy Prokop, both of Sioux City, Gary Prokop, Council Bluffs, Debbie Bird and Karen Krissel, both of Canton as well as other relatives and friends. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 13 at the Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday with the family present, also at the funeral home.
