Enas H. Haak

Enas H. Haak, 97, of Dell Rapids, died on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Dell Rapids Nursing and Rehab Center in Dell Rapids. His funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Reformed Church. Interment will be in the Logan Reformed Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Kahler Funeral Home. www.kahlerfh.com.

Enas H. Haak was born on April 19, 1915 on a farm east of Dell Rapids in Logan Township to Henry W. and Gertrude (Janssen) Haak. His father died when he was 10 years old. Enas farmed with his mother and brother until 1936 when he starting farming on his own.

He married Eleanor (Heeren) Rowenhorst on August 18, 1940 at the Logan Reformed Church. The couple continued farming on the family farm until 1975 when Enas retired and his son took over the farm. They remained living on the farm until 1991 when they moved into Dell Rapids.

He was a member of the Reformed Church, serving on many offices of the church. He was on the district #86 school board, a Logan Township Supervisor, and Vice President of the Terrace Manor Nursing Home Board when it was founded.

Enas is survived by his children, Elmer (Hattie) Haak of Dell Rapids, Elaine (Arthur) Braa of Rapid City, Robert (Carol) Haak of Peoria, AZ and Anita (Carrick) Scott of Albany, OR; his daughter-in-law, Laurie Haak of Cortez, CO; his ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor in 2010, his son, Arnold, his daughter, Ruth, his brother, Alven and his sister, Cristine Evans.
