Elaine was born on Feb 10, 1932, at a time where childhood seemed uncomplicated and yet everyone shared a common adversity in history in the “dirty 30’s”. The youngest of 5 children, Elaine grew up in Dell Rapids, SD, and lived accepting the lifestyle dealt to so many families in the 30’s. In spite all this, her acceptance of hardships built character and endearment.
She was confirmed and graduated high school in Dell Rapids and began her post high school years commuting to Sioux Falls where she worked for the Public Finance Company. Elaine met and married Dick Ivers soon after high school (1952) and the military carried them to California where they found an idyllic place to live in a vineyard residence outside Fallbrook, CA. Elaine and Dick started their family in California (Pam). Two more children (Terry and Brian) were born after moving back to Dell Rapids (1954-1959). They completed their family after moving to Arlington (Randy and Julie). From 1959 through the present, Elaine and her family lived in the same northwest Arlington home. Only in the last month did she reside at the Golden Living Care Center. Elaine’s husband, Dick, had passed away in December of 2003.
Survivors include her five children, Pam Lindell (Dan) of Rapid City, SD, Terry Ivers of Rapid City, Brian Ivers (Sue) of Minneapolis, MN, Randy Ivers of Washburn, ND, (has resided as caregiver for Elaine since Dick’s passing in 2003), Julie Monahan (Dave) of Wilmington, NC. Grandchildren include Jennifer, Josh, Michelle (Pam & Dan); Cassie (Terry); Sarah, Nick, Joey, Anna (Brian & Sue), Iris and Elsa (Julie & Dave). All of Elaine’s siblings and Dick’s siblings preceded her in her eternal journey.
