Today is election day, November 6th, 2012, and many people have already cast their ballots via absentee voting, while others will vote today until 7:00 p.m., and yet, others voters will not bother going to the polls. That is disturbing based on the many years of our military personnel fighting for this freedom and privilege. It’s understandable that some folks out east won’t go to the polls as they deal with survival following “Sandy” with locally band infrastructure and impassable bridges causing delays. As the nation faces a lot of issues and challenges, likewise the State of South Dakota will be facing similar challenges. There are good people that have decided to be a public servant and try to help meet some of the challenges whether it be nationally, statewide, or even locally. It behooves us all, as voters, to exercise this freedom. Despite ‘parent-teacher’ conferences at the Dells Public Schools, and some parents needing to find the time to work, rush home, and go to the conferences…try to find the time to vote.
