Edie (Lyng) Kroger-Seele

Edie SeeleEdith “Edie” Kroger-Seele, 89, of Greeley, passed away at Grace Pointe of Greeley. She was born May 9, 1924 in Dell Rapids, SD. She was the only child of Felix and Clara (Otterness) Lyng. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Dell Rapids, SD.

She finished 8th grade in a one room country school and graduated from Dell Rapids High School. She attended Business College in Sioux Falls before working for the US Government at the Army Air Base in Sioux Falls.

Edith was married on July 16, 1944 to Staff Sgt. Reinhold Kroger. After he left the service they came to Colorado and lived in Denver until 1956 when they bought the Northern Colorado Industrial Laundry in Greeley. Ron died on December 3, 1974. Edith then worked at the Carriage House Boutique for 15 years and retired in 1993. She remarried on November 27, 1982 to Walter Seele and their combined families grew and became very close through the years. Walt farmed in the Johnstown/Milliken area with his brothers. He passed on December 14, 2003.

She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and held several offices in the Women’s Circle and also was the first woman elected to serve on the Church Council. She was a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary for 30 years, a member of PEO Chapter EZ, a former member of the Greeley Country Club and the Knife and Fork club. She was also active in several golf and bowling associations.

The family would like to send out a special thank you to Accent Hospice for their special care during Edith’s last few days.

She is survived by her daughters Patricia “Pat” (Steve) Goodrich, Litchfield Park, AZ and Pamela “Pam” (Mike) Reynolds, Greeley, CO; stepchildren, Ron (Michelle) Seele, Chevy Chase, MD, Linda (Larry) Daly, Milliken, CO, and JoAnn “Jody” (Brad) Seele, Grand Junction, CO; Grandchildren Mike Squires (Kim Stovall), Matt (Nicole) Squires, Chris (Rochelle) Reynolds, Darcie (Chris) Forbes, Adrienne (Mike) Ridley, Erica (Jeremy) Herrera, Kathryn (Juan) Garcia and Nicole (Seth) Dummett; as well as 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall. Private interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Association or Our Savior’s Lutheran in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631. Friends may view the online obituary and send condolences at www.allnutt.com.
