De Smet Rebounds with Big Win over Stanley County

After a season-opening road loss at Castlewood, the De Smet Bulldog football team rebounded with a big win, 36-7, at home over the Stanley County Buffaloes on Friday, August 26th.

The Bulldogs scored all of their points in the first.  The scoring started with 8:48 in the first quarter.  Kadyn Fast had a 29-yard touchdown run.  Dylan Zell scored the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.  Britt Carlson had a six-yard touchdown pass to Fast with 2:13 to play in the first quarter to push the lead to 14-0.

Carlson added another touchdown pass, this time from 32 yards, to Tom Aughenbaugh with 10:29 to play in the second quarter.  Fast found the end zone again with 8:44 to go in the half on a 72-yard punt return for a touchdown.  Trace Van Regenmorter scored the two-point conversion to extend the lead to 28-0.  The Bulldogs final touchdown came with 4:04 to play in the second quarter.  Van Regenmorter scored on a 45-yard touchdown run.  Carlson completed a pass to Gannon Gruenhagen for the two-point conversion to put De Smet ahead 36-0.

Stanley County scored their only touchdown with 5:30 to go in the fourth quarter on a 40-yard touchdown run.  The extra point was also made.

De Smet will travel to Dell Rapids to play the St Mary Cardinals on Friday, September 2nd.
