The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals (14-5) ended their 2022-2023 regular season on the road at Bridgewater-Emery on Friday, February 24th. The Huskies put a damper on the end of the St Mary season by defeating the Cardinals 41-71.
The Cardinals offense struggled to get into a rhythm throughout the game while the Huskies had no struggles offensively. Bridgewater-Emery built a 16-3 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals got within eight points, 26-18, with 3:05 to play in the second quarter, but that was as close as they would get in the game. The Huskies extended their lead to 34-20 by halftime and led 52-30 at the end of the third quarter.
St Mary shot 38% (16-42) from the field overall, 13% (2-15) on three-point attempts, and 54% (7-13) from the free-throw line. Bridgewater-Emery shot 61% (31-51) overall, 22% (2-9) from three-point area, and 64% (7-11) from the free-throw line.
Nic Gaspar had 14 points and three steals. Trevon Beckman added 13 points and two steals. Maverick LeBrun finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Trimmier Hanson had four points, two rebounds, and two assists. CJ Smith had four rebounds and two assists.
